Content

This course covers classical topics of Microeconomics at a level for doctoral or advanced diploma students. It is intended to give the students a full understanding of Microeconomic Theory and its developments, especially in the area of consumer choice. Starting with consumer preferences, continuing with optimal choice and deriving the demand function the decision-making process of the consumer will be analyzed in depth. Furthermore, consumer surplus and its dynamics will be covered as well as topics of aggregate demand. The last part of the course will analyze choice under uncertainty and cover the topics of lotteries, risk aversion and insurance. In order to encourage individual learning, there will be assignments which will be given and discussed in tutorials.

Entry Requirements

Der Kurs richtet sich in erster Linie an first-year PhD students. Er ist jedoch offen für Diplom- und Master-Studierende (Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen) der TU Darmstadt. Diesen können sich den Kurs als Mikroökonomik II anrechnen lassen.
